West Belfast family’s plea for organ donation awareness during health pandemic

As a soft opt-out organ donation system comes into effect in England, a West Belfast family are urging the same system in Northern Ireland. The parents of three-year-old Dáithí Mac Gabhann, from Ballymurphy, say “we can’t be waiting years to come into line with the rest of the UK and Ireland”. Little Dáithí was born with a congenital heart defect and has been on a waiting list for a new heart since he was just a few days old. And Dáithí’s dad, Máirtín, a campaigner for organ donation awareness, says the tot’s only chance of survival is if he gets an organ donation. Full Story Here
