Dáithí joins Belfast Giants to promote Organ Donation Discussion Day

THE Belfast Giants have helped raise awareness of organ donation by welcoming a young west Belfast fan currently waiting for a new heart to their match as a VIP guest.

The Stena Line-sponsored ice hockey team marked Organ Donation Discussion Day on Saturday by hosting five-year-old Dáithí Mac Gabhann and his family to their clash against the Fife Flyers at Belfast’s SSE Arena.

His parents, Máirtín Mac Gabhann and Seph Ní Mhealláin, have worked to promote organ donation since their son’s diagnosis with their Donate4Dáithí campaign, and on Saturday they joined the Giants to mark the annual day aimed at encouraging people to consider donation and its life-saving impact.
