Belfast dad makes urgent organ appeal for baby needing a new heart
When doctors suggested that seriously ill baby Dáithí Mac Gabhann should be allowed to “slip away”, the newborn opened his eyes. At that moment Máirtín MacGabhann said his infant son gave him a look that told him “he really wanted to live”. Since then Máirtín, from West Belfast , has done everything possible to help 19 month old Dáithí battle the extremely rare and life-threatening congenital heart defect Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
